Banking Career Pathway Training at Mountain View College with BankWork$®

Dallas, TX – December 19, 2017 - Mountain View College proudly announces it is the first college to partner with BankWork$® to train the next generation of bank employees. Details of the FREE program, which covers everything from communications skills to cash handling, will be revealed at a meeting on January 18 at MVC.

Representatives from financial services institutions in the Greater Dallas area will be in attendance to learn how they can help in the efforts to lower the unemployment rate in DFW by providing banking skills and training in the community.

Mountain View College President, Dr. Robert Garza, says he’s proud of the fact that his campus is the first college selected for the unique collaboration. “This is about providing training, job preparation and ultimately good jobs for folks. We are grateful to the area banks and financial institutions that will equip graduates of the program with the tools needed to gain financial independence and opportunities.”

The classes run for eight weeks and provide training in the skills needed for jobs as tellers, customer service representatives and personal bankers, culminating in a graduation and job fair with local banking partners. Participants must be 18 years or older, have a high school diploma or GED, be fluent in written and spoken English, have basic computer skills and no adult felony convictions.

Since its inception in 2006, BankWork$® has successfully placed more than 1,700 graduates who were hired by banks and other financial institutions. BankWork$® has achieved a graduation rate of approximately 75% and is placing approximately 71% of graduates with partner banks each year.

“We are excited about partnering with Mountain View College given their significant accomplishments in both academics and workforce development. Their community outreach and passion for finding people careers that lead to self-sufficiency was so evident in our initial meeting we knew it was a match,” said Colleen Anderson, BankWork$® Executive Director, who spent 30+ years in the financial services industry.
